In light of the latest developments regarding the famed Lebanese TV presenter, Joe Malouf, and the cancellation of his TV show “Enta Hurr” on Lebanese TV station MTV, we would like to voice our support for Mr. Malouf, as we stand with the basic human right that is freedom of speech.
While we don’t believe that the cancellation of his TV show had anything to do with the topic of homosexuality, but rather as an unpredictable reaction to the tangled political atmosphere in Lebanon, we still would like to thank Malouf and his TV show’s crew for the obvious and powerful stand that they took for the rights of the detained homosexual men and women, who were treated with violations to their basic human rights in the illegal actions of the Mayor of Dekwaneh, Mr. Antoine Shakhtoura.
In our opinion: Lebanese TV channel, MTV, is continuing its awful track of muting freedoms; and this last incident is nothing but another drop in the river of abuses in the management of MTV. Some of these abuses were made by Mr. Malouf and through his TV Show Enta Hurr; such as his past actions against the LGBT community in Lebanon.
However, the illegal actions of Mr. Shakhtoura stripped the homosexual men and women in the Dekwaneh Abuse incident not only from their clothes, but also from their basic bodily human rights; and so is the cancellation of the TV show Enta Hurr, which did not only stripped TV from one of the most highly rated TV programmes, but also stripped Mr. Malouf from his right to freedom of speech. As we stood to support the rights of the LGBT, we stand to support Mr. Malouf’s rights as well, and the rights of any individual that we can help in the coming future.
Finally, we, as a group of LGBT activists and bloggers in Lebanon, represent only ourselves and our opinions, and we do not claim that our stand to support Mr. Malouf reflect the whole LGBT community in the country.

على ضوء المستجدات الأخيرة فيما يخصّ المقدّم اللبناني المشهور جو معلوف وإلغاء برنامجه التلفزيوني “إنت حرّ” على القناة اللبنانية “أم. تي. في.”، يهمنا أن نؤكد دعمنا للسيد معلوف من باب تأييد حق أساسي من حقوق الانسان وهو حرية التعبير.
من هنا نحن نؤكد شكرنا للسيد معلوف وطاقم برنامجه التلفيزيوني لموقفهم الجريء والواضح الذي أخذوه دعماً لحقوق الموقوفين المثليين رجالاً ونساءً، والذي تم التعدّي على حقوقهم بتصرفات غير قانونية وغير شرعية من قبل رئيس بلدية الدكوانة السيد أنطوان شختورة بالرغم أننا نعتبر أنّ إلغاء البرنامج التلفزيوني ليس له أي علاقة بموضوع المثلية الجنسية بل هو ردّة فعل غير متوقعة ناتجة عن الأجواء السياسية المتشابكة في لبنان.
إنّ القناة اللبنانية “أم. تي. في”.تصّر على الاستمرار في نهجها السيئ لقمع الحريات وإنّ الحادثة الأخيرة هي ليست الا شاهد على تعديات إدارة ال “أم. تي. في.”.نذّكر أن بعض هذه التعديات كان قد مارسها أيضاً السيد معلوف من خلال برنامجه التلفيزيوني “إنت حرّ” ضد مجتمع ال م م م م (مثليين، مثلييات، مزدوجي الجنس، متحولي الجنس) في لبنان
إن السيد شختورة لم يجرّد المثليين رجالاً ونساءًمن ثيابهم فقط في التعدي الذي مارسه بحقهم في الدكوانة بل من أبسط الحقوق الانسانية؛ لذلك إن الغاء البرنامج التلفزيوني “إنت حرّ” هو ليس فقط عملية الغاء لبرنامج ذات نسبة مشاهدة عالية بل أيضاً إلغاء حق التعبير عن الرأي للسيد معلوف. من هنا، وكما جرت العادة على مناصرتنا لقضايا حقوق الانسان ومجتمع ال م.م.م.م. في لبنان نحن نقف اليوم الى جانب السيد معلوف في حقوقه وفي حقوق أي شخص يمكننا مساندته في الوقت القريب
آخيراً نحن كمجموعة من المدونيين والناشطين ال م. م. م. م. في لبنان، نؤكد أن هذا البيان يمثلنا ويمثل أرائنا، ولا نلزم مجتمع ال م م م م في لبنان به ولا بدعمنا للسيد معلوف.
